The flowers are edible too. Pretty pink and taste like… chives.
One of the first herbs to spring back to life in the balcony, it’s very rewarding to plant it once and have it forever. On the way to a friend’s house for pancakes last week (savoury buckwheat pancakes for lunch), she texted last minute: “do you have chives?”. Yes we do!
update: I recently found this recipe for chive flower vinegar. When they bloom again I will definitely test it!
